This first monograph on Italian artist Emilio Prini explores his radical approach to art across five decades of work through texts, archival research, and artist interventions. Structured chronologically from 1966 to 2016, it examines his work via a systematic iconographic and bibliographic analysis of Prini’s archives along with the institutions he exhibited at. As he considered the medium secondary to the concept, no distinction is made between installations, sculptures, invitations, posters, or documents; and by presenting the works first individually and then situated in different contexts, the book provides a unique insight into his particular methodology.

Robert Snowden, the author of Vacant Possession, takes as his starting point the occasion of the closing show of the same name by the artist John Knight at Cabinet Gallery, Old Street in 2016. The text becomes an enquiry into the unrealised projects in the archive of the artist, and a reflection on the nature of the unmade, of memory and material evidence.

This catalogue has been printed in relation to the exhibition Quiet Quality, which took took place in two sites, Cabinet Gallery, London, 10 October–17 November, 2012 and the Frieze Art Fair, London, 11–14 October, 2012. The format of the book is consistent with the open ended series which the artist initiated in 1986.

Produced on the occasion of John Knight’s exhibition at The Renaissance Society, Chicago, 1983. Including an in-depth essay by art historian Anne Rorimer. Her investigation of Museotypes, the particular piece conceived for Knight’s Renaissance Society exhibition, points to its specific implications while her consideration of related earlier pieces further demonstrates the character and development of his work in general.
