Price: €215

Produced on the occasion of the exhibition Wade Guyton: Color, Power & Style, at Kunstverein Hamburg, Hamburg, 29 October, 2005–8 January, 2006. With texts by Yilmaz Dziewior, Janneke de Vries, Scott Rothkopf, Daniel Baumann.

Wade Guyton rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with a landmark series of abstract paintings composed of simple forms and letters printed on canvas. Running the canvas through a commercial inkjet printer, Guyton stretched the device beyond its capacity to the point of failure, embedding the limits of a digital future onto the surfaces of his paintings.

The Fatigue Empire
Cosima von Bonin
Published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln, 2010, 320 pp. (colour & b/w ill.), 18 × 23 cm, German / English
Price: €70

Produced on the occasion of the exhibition Cosima von Bonin, The Fatigue Empire at Kunsthaus Bregenz, Bregenz, July 18 – October 3, 2010.

Cosima von Bonin came of age as an artist in the 1990s amid the storied art scene in Cologne. In her practice, mixed references to art history, popular culture, and music are seen in tandem with a destabilising approach to craft and domestic activities. Many of her recent installations are populated with casts of cartoonish fabric characters – fish, whales, mushrooms, dogs, rockets – whose endearing appearances conjure a range of contradictions: delight and horror, softness and rigidity, and humour and sorrow.

With essays by Yilmaz Dziewior, Mark von Schlegell, and John Welchman. Designed by Yvonne Quirmbach.

Published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln, 2019, 384 pp. (colour & b/w ill.), 19.8 × 25 cm, English/German
Price: €25

Family, kin, clan, clique, coterie, fandom, elective affinity, alliance, collaboration, network. These forms of social structures are reflected in the materials assembled in this catalogue: invitation cards, flyers, fanzines, journals, and texts from the 1990s and 2000s. Documents that are arranged chronologically on a timeline provide an insight into the developments of visual art at that time in Cologne and New York. Selected historical essays and reviews reflect virulent theoretical debates; interspersed data point to socio-political events and influential exhibitions. The catalogue accompanies the exhibition of the Schröder Donation with works by Kai Althoff, Cosima von Bonin, KP Brehmer, Tom Burr, Lukas Duwenhögger, Isa Genzken, Dan Graham, Renée Green, Ull Hohn, Hilary Lloyd, Lucy McKenzie, Christian Philipp Müller, Nils Norman, Stephen Prina, and Danh Vo.

HIER UND JETZT im Museum Ludwig: Transcorporealities
Published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln, 2020, 236 pages (colour & b/w ill.), 23 × 23 cm, German / English
Price: €29

The concept of transcorporeality (Stacy Alaimo) builds on the thesis that all bodies are permeable, open-ended systems in constant exchange with their environment and other biological, technological, economic, and sociopolitical realities. With works by Jesse Darling, Flaka Haliti, Trajal Harrell, Paul Maheke, Nick Mauss, Park McArthur, Oscar Murillo, and Sondra Perry, Transcorporealities critically examines the permeability of bodies-including the museum-at the interfaces between subject, object, and space. It focuses on urgent (institutional) questions of visibility and accessibility as well as the possibilities and limits of representation: What is inscribed and attributed to bodies? Who is looking at whom? What is meant when we say “we” and “they”?

With texts from Stacy Alaimo, Yilmaz Dziewior, Park McArthur, Leonie Radine & Nora Sternfeld.
