Body Starting to Change
Elena Narbutaitė, Deimantas Narkevičius
Published by Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius, 2015, 14 loose sheets in plastic wrapper (colour & b/w ill.), 21 × 29.7 cm, English
Price: €16

Body Starting to Change is a conversation on music between two artists. When in 1960s despite the official ban foreign radio stations gained in availability within USSR, the newscasts and political comments broadcasted by them became an important part of alternative education. Musical programmes were of no less or perhaps of even more importance as they exposed the vitality of youth culture (or subculture) behind the Iron Curtain. Deimantas Narkevičius shares his musical experiences with Elena Narbutaitė, starting with this period of ‘catching waves’ and continuing until 1993, when the introduction to the London music scene became the turning-point (sooner or later experienced by many) in the artist’s relationship to the changing urban culture. The publication includes watercolours by Elena Narbutaitė, the reproduction of the cover of Satori, an album by Flower Travellin’ Band, stills from July 20, 2015, the (then) new film by Deimantas Narkevičius, and graphics by Mark Geffriaud.

Published as part of the XII Baltic Triennial. Designed by Julie Peeters.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Jože Plečnik (1872–1957), a key figure of the Modernist movement in architecture and creator of numerous buildings and monuments around the city of Ljubljana, in 2022 Luca Lo Pinto and Olaf Nicolai curated an exhibition titled I Am Only the Housekeeper, but I Don’t Know… in the Slovenian architect’s former home. The publication retraces the contemporary interventions undertaken by the curatorial duo, who invited twenty-five internationally recognised Slovenian and foreign artists, allowing them to enter the house through their own works to commemorate Plečnik’s oeuvre and place its reading into a different and more contemporary context.

Strange Switch. Spent. The Night, Sleep.
George Tourkovasilis
Published by BILL, Brussels, 2025, 144 pp. (colour & b/w ill.), 30 × 21 cm, English
Price: €38

This book presents previously unpublished work by George Tourkovasilis (1944–2021), a photographer and writer who lived between Paris, London, and Athens. Spanning the 1960s to the 2000s, his images move between diaristic depictions of radically intimate moments and sociological chronicles, while his incisive writing on art, politics, and desire brings its own syncopated reflections. Following his death in 2021, Akwa Ibom, Radio Athènes, and Melas Martinos assumed stewardship of his archive – prints, negatives, manuscripts, correspondence, and digital files – and organized three exhibitions: Spent at Akwa Ibom, The Night, Sleep at Radio Athènes, and Strange Switch at Melas Martinos, which are documented here. Drawing on material unearthed from the archive over the past year, including previously unseen digital and phone photography, this book offers a new perspective on a practice that largely eluded the public eye yet remained prolific and generous in private. Edited by Helena Papadopoulos, Julie Peeters & Maya Tounta. Designed by Julie Peeters.

Eyes
Inge Grognard
Published by Grazer Kunstverein, Graz, 2025, 64 pp. with card (colour & b/w ill.), 10 × 15 cm, English
Price: €15

This publication accompanies Eyes, an exhibition presented in public space, featuring seven billboards across the city of Graz, each displaying compositions of eye makeup by Inge Grognard, photographed by Grognard herself backstage during the preparation of runway preparations and fashion shoots.

Inge Grognard is a pioneering Belgian makeup artist whose work has shaped avant-garde fashion for decades. As a teenager, she befriended Martin Margiela, an encounter that shaped both their creative paths, leading to a two-decade collaboration that helped define the raw, deconstructed aesthetic of Maison Martin Margiela. In the mid-1980s, Grognard became an integral force within the Antwerp Six, working closely with Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dirk Van Saene, and Marina Yee.
