Produced over the course of little more than a decade, Lee Lozano’s art is striking for its breadth and vigour. As well as paintings characterized by energy, daring physicality, and tireless investigation of the body and gender, Lozano’s oeuvre also includes conceptual works and drawings, the latter of which are the focus of this publication. A selection of the artist’s early narrative and figurative drawings from 1960 to 1964—all of which were previously unpublished—are presented alongside texts by Barry Rosen and Jaap van Liere, as well as extracts from the artist’s own diaries that capture the wit, intelligence, and anger that animated her brief yet profoundly influential career.

Michael E. Smith occasionally creates drawings as organisational notes for his exhibitions: a to-do list may be intertwined with a sketch outlining an idea for a sculpture, and at times, drawings emerge as impromptu phone scribbles. Over the past fifteen years Smith has accumulated a substantial collection of drawings, collected here for the first time in this publication produced on the occasion of the exhibition Michael E. Smith at the Kunst Museum Winterthur, 3 February – 28 April, 2024.

Produced on the occasion of Richard Tuttle’s participation in the group exhibition Das kleine Spiel zwischen dem Ich und dem Mir: Kunst und Choreografie at Kolumba Museum, Köln.

This early piece by Richard Tuttle consists of 10 drawings laid out on the floor using pieces of string. The traces of physical gestures that are incorporated into the piece open up a field of possibilities, enabling the visitors to become actors with their own agency.
