Straying from the Line was dedicated to a fundamentally expanded perspective on the multiplicity of feminist tendencies in the art of the last 100 years. Instead of presenting a straight narrative of feminist art as a generation- and/or identity-specific style, the exhibition charted a network of multiple references, drawing connections between aesthetically and politically, geographically and historically heterogeneous perspectives.

Discipline, Más allá del fin (translating to ‘discipline beyond the end’)—represents an effort to map a South–South relationship between Chile and Australia, and even more specifically, between its southernmost island tips: Tierra del Fuego and Tasmania. For centuries, the Northern imagination conceived of these places as the very personification of distance itself, whereas the editors of Más allá del fin refer to Tierra del Fuego as ‘the centre of the known universe’. In addition to publishing a range of essays on modern and contemporary art, this joint issue recentres and forges new connections between Southern perspectives, generating a dynamic and relational art history of the contemporary.

The Lost Space

Guy Mees used the enigmatic title Lost Space to describe two major bodies of work, distinct in origin and form, and separated by a gap of more than twenty years: the geometric objects and panels covered in lace created in the 1960s, and the works he started producing in the 1980s featuring colour paper cutouts pinned to walls. This publication is dedicated to a lesser-known chapter in this story: the writing process of a short text entitled, likewise, The Lost Space. An ambiguous manifesto for Mees’ work, the text went through a number of revisions, with Mees contributing suggestions, but never authoring it himself. This book reproduces eight extant versions of the text for the first time, in facsimile and typographic transcription. Edited by Lilou Vidal. Designed by Joris Kritis. Limited edition of 350 copies.

Guy Mees (1935–2003) is a Belgian artist whose oeuvre encompasses photographs, videos, sculptures, and fragile works on paper that combine formal rigor with delicacy and a conceptual approach. A leading figure of the Belgian avant-garde, Mees left behind a body of work that transgresses geometric abstraction, Minimalism, Conceptualism, and applied arts.

The book Christoforos Savva: Untimely, Again is published on the occasion of the participation of the Republic of Cyprus at the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale. Untimely, Again is a posthumous exhibition of works by Christoforos Savva (1924–1968) presented at the Cyprus Pavilion.

The publication focuses, in a very precise but also circumscribed manner, on a specific aspect of Christoforos Savva’s work that is beyond the artist’s control: the artwork’s presence in the world. The moment the work leaves the studio and goes into the world is, quite often, when artists themselves find out whether it has sufficient autonomy and strength. In Savva’s case and particularly in the case of such a fragmented photographic archive – and, therefore, so fascinating and suggestive – as the one presented in the book, the glimpses of his work in contact with the world over time silently witness and reflect the transformations of a society. Looking at, often blurred or slightly crooked, amateur photographs is a way to reaffirm that what matters, when one faces the work of Christoforos Savva, is not only or not so much individually looking at each painting, yfasmatography, or relief on its own, but also looking at the world around them. The Memory of The Archive: Christoforos Savva in the 1954–1968 Cypriot Press & Literary Periodicals is published on the occasion of the survey exhibition project Untimely on Time: Christoforos Savva (1924–1968), co-organised by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, Cultural Services and Point Centre for Contemporary Art, Nicosia and presented at the State Gallery of Contemporary Art – SPEL, Nocosia, Cyprus, between 31 January and 31 March 2019.

The book is a compilation and an archive of press cuttings, consisting of more than two hundred articles, commentaries, reports, and advertisements that appeared in the mainstream Cypriot press and literary periodicals between 1954 and 1968 and relate to the Christoforos Savva. The press cuttings are treated as objects with a story, a narrative worth telling with the goal of shedding new light on the artist’s life and career. Designed by Studio Manuel Raeder.
