An edition produced in 2005 on the occasion of the exhibition series Critical Societies, which took place in four stages from 24 March–22 November, 2005 at the Badischer Kunstverein. Karslruhe.

Stephen Willats has made work examining the function and meaning of art in society since the 1960s. His work has involved interdisciplinary processes and theory from sociology, systems analysis, cybernetics, semiotics and philosophy. This manifests in wall installations, project works, films & computer simulations, drawings & diagrams, bookworks and texts.

Produced on the occasion of the exhibitions at Kunsthalle Tübingen, Tübingen; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven and Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt.

Despite having only a brief artistic career, spanning from 1962 to 1967, Peter Roehr left behind him a prolific oeuvre of pioneering collages, photo and sound montages and films. Roehr developed a proto-conceptual practice borrowing from pop art and minimalism. His practice was based on the principle of serial organisation and montage, focusing on the effects produced by unvaried repetition.
